MonSter
MonSter is a project that communicates my dad’s condition, Multiple Sclerosis.
In 2002, my dad was diagnosed with MS which is caused by the immune system mistakenly attacking the brain and nerves. My dad chose the title ‘MonSter’ for this project, and I asked him to think of a word that he associates with MS for each letter of the title. He chose: M – Multiple Sclerosis, O – Optic Neuritis, N – Neurologist, S – Synapses, T – Tolterodine, E – Emotional Lability and R – Relapse & Remit. Following this I created a set of posters that communicate the meaning of each word using materials and mark making which reflect his disability.
The posters were featured in MS Awareness Week this year which was held by the MS Society UK charity.
